Petrocaribe Rally (A Musical Review) Today is the second reading the Petrocaribe motion in which House approval is being sought for loans amounting to two hundred and forty million dollars from Venezuela, of which sixty million dollars has already been spent. The Opposition Peoples United Party (PUP) accuse the Government of not seeking approval of the National Assembly to get the loan from the Alba Petrocaribe or to spend the funds. The PUP intends to take the UDP to court because they say this did not happen and there is no accountability. When the PUP was in power, the UDP accused the PUP of not seeking approval from the House and for lacking in accountability as well. So both parties accuse each other of the same thing while they were acting as the Government of Belize. Nonetheless, as far as the international observers are concerned, these are actions of the Government of Belize, not political parties. That is why today, the UDP intends to bus thousands of supporters into the Capital, Belmopan to show support that they are accountable and they have support of the people. It is a tour de force, designed to drown the Blue (PUP) in a sea of Red (UDP). youtube/watch?v=pusPnlZpRuw However, the UDP has borrowed the Soca song of the year in the Caribbean, Mr. Killas Rolly Polly. Instead of the fat and big girl that Killa sings of, in the UDPs version, the Rolly Pollys largeness is metaphorically the abundance of infrastructure and development. The PUP has often been the leaders in song and dance. But this song is better than the now forgotten Caliente Dancers and wap them one by one. It even grabs the attention more than Said Musas Stink da road But Said Musas voice was craftily embedded into the song which gives it 4 stars. youtube/watch?v=CKhQxnE8Uv0 Unfortunately the Government song is not online as yet, so I will share the original song. Why bother with the songs? Because at the end of the day, the success of the day will be measured in numbers of people that can be counted outside; not at the rhetoric that will be exchanged in the House. In truth, these projects, whether by a PUP or UDP Government, has provided jobs for current gang members, unemployed and people who have not had much formal education and training. If the projects could be sustainable and keep these people employed so that they can afford to pay their bills and not have to beg, I would dance to any song that they devise. #Belize #Petrocaribe #doitforbelize #teambelize
