Petty theft may not justify a homicide but not listening to an officer will make them try to stop you. Escalating the situation will get an officer to fight you. Reaching for an officers gun will give an officer justification in trying to shoot you. And charging an officer will get you shot. So no, petty theft doesnt deserve death. But threatening the safety of an officer because you 1) refused to cooperate 2) fought the officer while he was in his car 3) caused his service weapon to discharge while also fracturing the officers eye socket 4) ran from the officer 5) turned and charged the officer will get you 6) shot dead in the street. Mike Brown did as much wrong as Derrin Williams did. And simply because one man was white and another was black shouldnt cause a facial firestorm. Racism is alive and well in this country, but you have no proof, no evidence, and no right to claim this was racially motivated. But you let emotion cloud your vision and refuse to recognize facts. And then riots form in the streets and more pain and suffering is perpetuated. More people hurt. More officers put at risk. More civilians put at risk. All because one side is too callous to be mindful of their words and the other is too blinded by rage to see the facts and accept that Mike Brown made mistakes. Mistakes that for him ended his life. #BobcatOpinion
