PhD Scholarship in Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modeling in Materials, 2015 Study Subject(s): Scholarship is provided for research project: Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modeling in Materials at University of Warwick. Course Level: Scholarship is available for pursuing PhD degree level at University of Warwick. Eligibility: Due to funding restrictions this award is available for well-qualified UK or EU students. Other motivated students are encouraged to apply but will need to secure their own funding. Candidates should hold a 1st or 2.1 degree, the ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree in the Sciences or Engineering, strong mathematical background and experience in programming (preferably C++). Applicants with interests in high performance computing or any aspects of materials modelling will be given preference. Scholarship Open for : UK/EU and international students can apply for the scholarship. Scholarship Description: We are looking for PhD students to work in a project related to modeling of random materials. The project includes development of models for random microstructures, uncertainty quantification in computational mechanics, and stochastic homogenization techniques. Stochastic modeling of materials and development of related uncertainty quantification techniques is in the frontier of computational science and engineering and the particular project provides unique opportunities for professional academic or industrial growth. What does it cover? The Scholarship will pay an annual stipend at the standard rate (currently £13,863) and tuition fees at the Home/EU rate for three years. Overseas students may apply and, if successful would be required to make up the difference in fees between the home and the overseas rates. Selection criteria: Applicants with interests in high performance computing or any aspects of materials modelling will be given preference. Online Application: To apply for this post you must complete the online application form and quote scholarship reference NZ14. As soon as you have a University ID number you will be invited to upload your degree certificate, transcripts, CV and a personal statement that explains your specific research interests and why you should be considered for this award. Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 15 September 2014.
