Phase II, Armstrong Bike Park, Starts....NOW!!!! Shipping Container Bike Barn!: Thanks to an incredibly generous grant from the Rotary Club of Downtown Richmond, these industrial shipping containers were delivered today! These 12,000lb cargo containers will be transformed into a barn-looking structure-- becoming the anchor building of the Armstrong Bike Park. One container will host park supplies, tools, and equipment, while the other container will hold bikes, tools, and accessories for our expansion efforts into Armstrong High, Fairfield Court Elementary, Woodville Elementary, and MLK Middle School! A roof will span and connect the two containers (think farm stable). New section of trail will run right between the containers (think tunnel). With fresh paint (maybe a mural), the barn is going to look sharp! And...thanks to a grant from the Richmond Area Bicycle Association (RABA), new trail development also started today. Phase II includes nearly a half-mile of new trail and features! Finally, thanks to the amazing support from the Central Virginia Nursery and Landscaping Association (cvnla.org/), 41 new trees will be planted next month at the Armstrong Bike Park!!! Keep up with these exciting projects as they unfold over the next few weeks. Its RCCs 5th Anniversary...you guys didnt think we were going to start slowing down...did you?? Finally (finally), this is where our new hire, Matt Kuhn, will spend nearly every bit of his time; in Fairfield Court, behind Armstrong High and Fairfield Elementary, at this one-of-a-kind bike park. Help us reach our goal to help our Richmond Public School students, and an entire public housing neighborhood, by hiring Matt full-time. Bikes and trails are effective tools in character development with the right people.... Matt Kuhn is the right people: https://indiegogo/projects/let-s-hire-matt-kuhn--3
