Philip Ewing of Politico reported this little theater of the absurd classic yesterday on the Iraqi Air Force (Texas branch). Of course, maybe the new Iraqi F-16s are going to be stationed in Texas because of all those right-wing rumors that ISIS is planning to infiltrate the southern border of the U.S.! Tom The U.S. plans to begin delivering new fighter jets to Iraq next month, but theres no telling when, or if, they could play any role in the ongoing fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The Air Force is set to deliver the first in a new batch of Lockheed Martin-built F-16 Fighting Falcons in December, Defense Department spokesman Col. Steve Warren said Monday. The jets will fly to Tucson, Ariz., where Iraqi pilots are now in training. The U.S. and Iraq had originally planned to ferry the F-16s to Balad Air Base, north of Baghdad, but this summers advance by ISIL made it too risky for Lockheed contractors, Iraqi and U.S. troops to operate there as planned. So, the U.S. will deliver the first three F-16s to Tucson in December, then five more, one per month, in 2015, Warren said.
