Philippine mythology is full of the crocodile symbol, but the literature is ambivalent. In many communities, however, the crocodile is a boon to human kind, worshipped as a powerful spirit and protector. The crocodile symbol is used to embellish amulets, cloth, carvings, pottery, to ward off evil. Considering its usefulness, it provides meat, very expensive skin and teeth used as jewelry, the comparison with rotten, corrupt politicians may be unfair. Our blood sucking, conscienceless politicians are more like leeches than crocs. Thats if we must make comparisons with animals.
