Phone rings, its an 800 number: Me: Hello? Them: Good afternoon. (Um, its 11:15am here) Me: Okay. T: May I speak to a Ms Cathy Jack? M: You got her. T: This is (mumble) from Chase Bank. M: Who? T: (Mumble) calling from Chase Bank. M: Uh, okay. Whats up? T: Are you aware that you account is $__.__ overdrawn? (Down to the penny.) M: Why yes I am! Thanks for reminding me! T: And when do you think you will be able to rectify this account? M: Why, am I holding up your paycheck? T: Uh, um, well youve been over drawn for $__.__ (same amount) for 7 days now. M: Yes! I know that, and I havent been able to go shopping at all. Thank you again for the reminder. T: Uh, well, again, when would you anticipate rectifying this account. (Now Im giggling because he keeps using the word rectify.) M: As soon as I get a paycheck. T: And when would that be? M: I get paid on the 20th, is that good? T: Uh, yes. Let me write that down. M: Is that for future reference, because I havent been overdrawn in a long while, and I dont anticipate doing it again. T: Uh... M: Thats okay, I forgot about the automatic payments, it wont happen again. Not a fan of those auto payments. How bout you? T: Uh... can I verify your information? M: Can I verify yours? T: Uh, what? I just need to verify your information for security purposes. M: I should verify yours. How do you know so much about me? T: Its just for security purposes. M: Well, it seems that you know my phone number, you know my name, you know that I am overdrawn down to the penny, and now you know when that will be rectified, so thats really all you need to know at this point, right? T: Uh, um, yes maam, thank you. M: Have a great afternoon. T: Crickets. I love good customer service...
