Photographer friends - ive recently read several unhappy posts from photogs after finding their images being used and re-shared as peoples facebook cover images. Im curious as ive seen several photographers posting about this sort of thing lately. Why the fuss about cover pages for individuals? Id understand if it was a business or some other commercial entity, but for joe schmoe to see our work and say damn, i like that. Let me show it to my friends on facebook.... Well, as i see it there is really no loss of profit for us as artists here.. In the same situation id probably contact them with genuine enthusiasm that they enjoyed my work so much, and just ask that they credit me so their friends know where to find more. Am i completely off-base here? I dont quite grasp why people are get wrapped around the axle by this -- not being an ass here -- would really just like another perspective on this one so that maybe i can get it.
