Photos from the field: Not everyone is welcome at state parks. Our environmental staff spent a day last week removing Phragmites, a tall perennial grass that is common in wetlands. This invader spreads rapidly, forming tall, dense stands of thick coarse reeds that provide little value to wildlife and chokes out native plant species. By removing these aggressive invaders, native plant species can be reestablished and our wetlands become more healthier. Photo: Moreau Lake State Park
