Physiology: breathing, body and blood Breathing is the source of life, every day we breathe about 20,000 times in and out to get the needed oxygen. Oxygen (O2) is supplied through the lungs and carbon dioxide (CO2), a waste product, is removed. The lungs have a hierarchical branching structure and consists of two parts (the left and right lung). Through the trachea, oxygen is argued that transported via the main bronchus is to bronchioles (small airways). The bronchioles terminate in alveoli. In the alveoli will contact between oxygen and blood. During this exchange, contact the O2 absorbed through the blood and CO2 separation. This process is called gas exchange. After this exchange, the oxygenated blood flows further into the body cells. The body cells use O2 for releasing energy from nutrients. The released energy is used to keep (Walker, 2006 p 50 & 51.) And to be able to perform. Physical and mental life in (healthy) The amount of O2 in the blood thus also determined how much energy is released. By increasing the amount of O2 in the body more energy can be released. The alveoli have by means of their elasticity, a large difussie surface. The difussie surface is the part where the exchange of O2 with CO2 occurs. When deep breaths achieved is this 70 m2 and when deep breath is this 100 m2 (Mandigers & van Straaten-Huygen, 2004 p. 290 t / m 316). With the breathing technique of WHM, an even greater surface area to reach, so that more O2 may be included. Because more O2 is absorbed, into the blood may be more CO2 can be separated off. This has as a result that the body is being cleaned. By breathing is affected. The quantity of O2 and CO2 in the body,
