Physiology lesson for today: your appendix is somewhat useless and if something goes wrong, you have a limited time to get it removed before things get worse. Your tonsils are very useful and if they are unhappy (as mine currently are), chances are they will fix themselves. Generally theyre only removed if they get really big, or are unhappy often. To summarize, just because I realized that my tonsils are swollen and sore (likely due to my cold), I dont need to panic and get them removed before they rupture...like an appendix would. Yes, I had to look that up.
