Pic of the Day #2-3: Sick Spinner Dolphin. This is my first encounter with this animal and I would NOT let it touch me. This animal has a skin disease that experts dont know if it is transferable to humans or not. All my dolphin swimming friends, first thanks for contacting me when you have seen this animal in the recent past. I forward info to the Marine Mammal Response network for monitoring. Now just a bit of caution. It is being monitored by the National Marine Fisheries and I would highly suggest that you keep your guests from interacting with it. One you are habituating the animal beyond its normal behavior with humans and two you are habituating humans to think its ok to touch wild dolphins. Please be responsible.
