Picked up a vehicle at Vancouver airport yesterday. The Dollar/Thrifty counter had staff with picket signs of unfair labour practises. I asked one of the picketers about this...apparently Hertz has bought Dollar/Thrifty Car Rental. Hertz employees receive pension, benefits for part time workers, higher wages, and protection against electronic surveillance (not sure what that means?) Dollar/Thrifty employees will NOT receive the same benefits. Looks like a clear unfair situation. I will NOT be renting from Dollar/Thrifty in the future.
