Picture wrap for Woodlawn: Dare to Believe was on Tuesday and I - TopicsExpress

Picture wrap for Woodlawn: Dare to Believe was on Tuesday and I have had time to reflect and think upon the work that had been done for the last 14 weeks of my life. This project was not just another job. It was a story that was told to me over 13 years ago. One of the reasons I moved to Alabama and started my journey with Jonathan Daniel Erwin and Andrew Erwin. I told this story as a camp counselor to numerous kids. A story about a team and the players that had an impact on their community through the impact on them. Fast forward to now...two days removed from wrap on the toughest most emotional and rewarding project I have been apart of. So with this I have some thank yous that I want to share with all of you. First off Jennifer Hill, thanks for standing by me my love. Every 4 am drive, letting me talk your ear off about the day and listening to me. For taking care of me when I got sick and helping me get up each morning when I didnt set my alarm. Also for being a trooper through such a tough movie for you. I love you so much and it makes me so happy that I have you there to share the journey. Dan Atchison - it was amazing having you back as UPM. It had been too long since we had worked together on a feature together. I got my start as a DP because of you and it just seems right and fitting that you be there for this, even when we argued. You blew me away with honoring all my requests and when all seemed dim, you said it would be all good and it was. Thanks for listening to my rants and raves and extinguishing them with you calm nature and a laugh. Daryl Lefever - Let it NEVER be said that you didnt give me everything I needed. 3 for 3 bro! I know that the tug of war with production and G&E is always exhausting, however your demeanor is always steady. Constantly coming through with the solution even when we give you copious amounts of haggle. YOU SIR are a joy to work with and a wonderful producer. I hope that we have many more to come. Kevin Downes - Thank you for giving me the opportunity and also being around so much to help shoulder the tough times and to have someone to laugh with in the overly absurd moments. That moment when you gave me the keys (dont know if you remember) was a pretty awesome moment for me. It meant a lot more than you will ever know. Thanks for trusting me with your project and backing me. It made me feel very confident. Camera Department - I cant say enough about the job you boys did. All our money went to the equipment and you certainly were the most understaffed of the departments however you rolled with it so well. Watching you guys always be on your game made me so proud. Nobody ever heard me call for you because thats how good you guys are. Nick Gowin, you rolled with the punches and pulled beautifully. Justin Robinson, you are like our mascot and you bust your ass every day all day with a smile and always bringing us a laugh. Clay Loveless, I am so proud of you little bro for stepping up in a big way. You are a hell of an AC but you are a special operator. Youre gonna do big things bro...congrats Low Mode. David Svenson, it was a pure joy and pleasure getting to work with you and watch you smoothly steadi yourself into the family. This was the first time working together and it WONT be the last. And of course, Diego...you are the best Assistant I know and even a better friend. Youve stuck with me from the get go and you deserve all the accolades. Like I said, they dont get me with out you homie. I love you bro. Grip Brothers - I have never seen a unit work together like the way I saw you guys work. Quick, exact, safe and probably the funniest channel on the radios. If it needed to be built, moved or shaped it was executed with precision and flare. You guys are amazing and did killer work. A special thank you too the Bham Three especially. Jon ChampionRebekah N Joe Raffield & Sean Kirby. I owe you guys a lot. As the hammers you made the other guys fit in and feel comfortable. It was great seeing you guys be so masterful. I would absolutely take this entire department on the road if I could. Every time! Ben Stinson, you are a hell of a dolly grip bro. Thanks for putting up with my changes (whether they were mine or not) and all the great suggestions. You are a solid dude and would love to have you push again if you would sir? Charlie Harrold, I cant tell you how much you mean to me as a Key Grip, but way more as my close friend. You are always there for me and when I am down, you tell me to suck it up. You are one of the most positive forces not only on set but in my life man. Thank you so much for taking the time with the project and injecting your passion. You make the work so much better all around. Electric - Coming from a former brother, you guys know I lean on my lighting team a lot. Every time I say This is a grip heavy show it just seems to become even heavier on you guys. I love light and you guys are the best painters around. Thanks for taking care of me. Thanks for pulling out ANOTHER 18K and making another nighttime look like a beautiful late afternoon. Thank you for bearing with all the changes. Bruce Hazen, you were an amazing addition to this crew and one of the best attitudes I have ever been around. Thank you so much for all the miles of cable you ran even on the days when I didnt pull a light off the truck. You were a constant positive influence when I came in each morning...or should i say, MOSTLY NIGHTS. Thank you for rolling with all the changes and taking care of Johnny. You were a rockstar man. Jonathan Terpstra, THANK YOU for telling me to hire you :) It was the best move I made. You are so freakin talented and I really want you to hire me one day when you are shooting. You understand light so well and you made some really beautiful canvases to shoot. It was special to watch you work with light bro and I cant wait till we do it again...and with Arri Maxs! Finally, Jon & Andy Erwin - The only reason I am doing what I am doing is because of you two. I owe a mass amount of my success to you both. The opportunity that you gave me on this show was amazing and I hope that I could repay you in the frames. It was incredibly special to have done this movie with you. After all these years of talking about this story. After all the long nights and days, tears and laughs and the occasional bloodshed we have shared over the years together, to watch this movie come together was truly amazing. Watching you both become who you have become as directors and men that I look up to has been really one of the most gratifying aspects of the last 12 years. I love you guys and thank you for being the brothers you have been to me. Cheers to you and cheers to an amazing movie that I think is going to impact so many people. I could go on forever, but I have to start looking for another job cause I just realized I am now unemployed. Till the next one, thank you all WOODLAWN CREW! You were all amazing to work with and truly are family.
