Pieta House Mind Your Buddy Scheme - can you help someone ? Hi Folks, David Mitchell from Pieta House here. Unfortunately, suicide is rampant in Ireland at the moment. At Pieta House, we have developed an idea on how to tackle it from ground level up. It is generally accepted that more lives are saved by friends and families of a person in distress, than by organisations such as Pieta and others. With this in mind, our plan involves training members of clubs, organisations and community groups about the most common signs and symptoms of suicide, and the main triggers that may put someone in that state of mind. Within the GAA family, w e have already worked with Limerick and Dublin clubs, and have saved lives already! In conjunction with the Tipp Co. Board, Pieta House are planning on rolling out our Mind Ur Buddy suicide prevention and intervention training programme. This is ran by Pieta House entirely ***Free of charge***. We are holding 2 information evenings this week, which are open for members of all clubs to attend. The meetings are taking place as follows. Wednesday 20th Nov, McAuley Community Centre, Templemore at 7.15pm. Thursday 21st Nov, Horse and Jockey Hotel at 7.15pm. It would be great if clubs could have representatives at the meetings to get a feel for what is involved. Kind Regards, David Mitchell Campaign Co-Ordinator 01-6219371 / 0876146209
