Pinay bet still among Miss World’s People’s Choice by Michael Joe T. Delizo (Manila Bulletin) December 11, 2014 Miss Philippines Valerie Weigmann remains in the Top 10 of Miss World’s People’s Choice category, this, according to a Dec. 10 post on the pageant’s official Facebook page. Others that made it are: Australia, Barbados, Haiti, India, Nepal, Netherlands, South Africa, Tanzania and Thailand. The line-up is determined by votes through the Miss World application, available on iOS and Android. If Weigmann wins in the category, she will automatically advance to the semi-finals of the prestigious beauty pageant. Voting will close on Sunday. The 25-year-old Bicolana beauty, along with candidates from Brazil, Guyana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Bolivia, England, Netherlands and South Africa, also figured in the top 10 in the most impressive Beauty with a Purpose project category. Miss World Philippines Valerie Weigmann (Photo by Ali Vicoy) In her project, Weigmann teamed up with Pinoy band Climax, together with social responsibility group Musikaramay, conducting several street performances to raise funds for the Aetas of Mayantoc, Tarlac, particularly to help provide medicines and livelihood programs for the community. Weigmann’s predecessor, Miss World 2013 titlist Megan Young, placed in several pre-pageant competitions, including Continental Queens of Beauty (Asia), Balinese Beach Fabric (Beach Fashion) (4th runner-up), Top Model (Winner), Multimedia Award (3rd runner-up) and People’s Choice (2nd place). The 64th edition of the pageant will be held on Dec. 14 at ExCeL London. It will be hosted by Young, along with Welsh actor-TV presenter Tim Vincent and Mr. World Talent champion Frankie Cena. #MissWorld
