Pirates of the Internet? Beware selling on EBay and using PayPal. I started selling on EBay to dispose of some unwanted items, I was told that EBay is an excellent source of disposal. After reading the terms and conditions I thought I would give it a go. I sold approximately 10 items, and items that didn’t sell where automatically re listed, which they stated had no insertion fees, (1st mistake) This does not mean you will not get billed any fees it means that you will still have to pay fees for using more than one photo. As PayPal is there sister site they take charges for using this. They also state that they take fees out of your final selling price, They don’t tell you that the final selling price AND the cost of postage is calculated. IE if your final selling price is £20.00 and poastage is £6.95, then they add the two together then subtract the % of fees. This can mean you could end up owing money to them. So my question ‘Pirates of the internet’? Can EBay be classed as pirates? the definition of a pirate is abduct, confiscate, copy, criminal, hijack, hold up, impropriate, loot, pillage, plagiarize, plunder, poach, prey, rob, seize, spoil, steal, thief. The reason being if you have any fees they abduct, confiscate, loot, pillage, seize. Any monies owed by removing from your bank account without prior knowledge They poach and prey by means of advertising. Subliminal messages. You are not aware of this but by using search engines the top results are ‘you can buy this on EBay’ They have underrated customer support with operators speaking very poor English, when you eventually get through after a minimum wait of 25 minuets (call centre NOT UK based), and attempting to explain your case, (a further 20 minuets), the answer “not our problem”, when you explain you will take your custom elsewhere there response “so, we have a lot more customers, losing you wont bother us”. This WAS an answer off a supervisor. As a seller you will have NO seller protection, they will always go in favour of the buyer. I spent over 4 weeks with emails and phone calls proving that the items where as described, and they still went in favour of the buyer, they sent out private information, without your consent i.e. my home address details. the buyer who then failed to send the items back, they put my account on hold whilst I waited for a return. After waiting for over 1 week on a 48hr delivery and again numerous phone calls, they closed the case stating that the decision had still gone in the buyers favour and that this case had gone against my record. Unbelievable! My answer to all of this be Very careful when dealing with or on Ebay.
