Pitiful. Hedgess patently absurd explanations I copied it into my notebook and forgot I wrote it (any writer worth consideration knows the exact flow and rhythm, the rhetoric and the method, of their work and of others); it was meant to be set as a sidebar (what? without detailed instructions to the editor and layout designer??); I had a conversation in which all the original ideas came from the other side, but I put those ideas in slightly altered linguistic form so they could seem like mine... If you teach in a college or university, you will recognize every one of these gambits, and the lame excuses that follow. We flunk, even dismiss, students who do these things.
