Pizza base for bread machine Water 1 cup Butter (melted) 1 tbsp 2 tbsp salt 1 tsp strong white bread flour 2 ¾ cups fast action yeast 1 tsp The dough setting takes 1 ½ hours • I roll out this pizza dough and put it on a greased pizza stone, brush on some olive oil and cover it with cling film. The original recipe says to let it rise for 15 minutes, but I usually roll it out in the morning or early afternoon and let it rise away!! My sauce recipe makes enough for 4 pizzas. After I make it up, I separate it evenly into 4 containers and freeze the other portions. It is such a healthy alternative to frozen pizza from the shop! Pizza sauce (for 4 pizzas) Olive oil 1 tbsp 1 onion,diced 1 garlic clove, minced 1 can of chopped tomatoes (400 g) tomato puree (6 oz or 170 g) sugar 1 ½ tsp 1tsp Italian herbs or oregano ¼ tsp crushed red pepper (I use about 40 turns of a red pepper mill) 1 tsp salt • Cook the onion and garlic in the oil • Add all the other ingredients and heating to boiling, stirring. • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 min. • Transfer to a jug and puree Spread the sauce onto the pizza. Add your topping (My kids love the pepperoni from a stand in the Mahon Farmer’s Market.) Sprinkle 135 g grated mozzarella cheese (I use half of the 275g package from Aldi and keep the other half for the next week.) Bake in the oven at 200 degree C for 20 minutes. Since my pizza raises so much, I turn my pizza 180 degrees in the oven halfway through cooking. It’s my kids’ favourite meal!
