Pizza: consumed. Audit report: completed. Gears of War 3: commencing in 3-2-1 . . . You know, I’ve been trying to figure out why the most recent installment of Gears of War is a lesser experience than its predecessors. This opinion is subjective, of course. The game seems to have a less ominous and exotic atmosphere, the scenes have more sunlight and fewer shadows, the storylines aren’t particularly interesting (both that of Marcus Fenix—his father being alive and held captive on some remote island, AND that of Cole (aka Cole Train)—yeah, the player switches perspective for a while to play as Cole—who goes traipsing down memory lane at one point and whose story seems rather indulgent). Truth be told, I was never particularly interested in the stories video games tell, anyway. Mostly they just distract me from shooting the shit outta stuff. Hopefully I’ll be finished with this game tonight so I can move on to the one I REALLY want to play—Dead Space 2. It’s predecessor freakin’ R-O-C-K-E-D! Dead Space was the best sci-fi shooter I’ve played since Doom 3. I only hope DS 2 is endowed with the same high octane awesomeness. =O)
