Pl read thoroughly & suggest your views on Electoral Reform: 1. Voting should be obligatory as a fundamental duty with safe guards. 2. Candidate should be disqualified for nomination if charges have been framed for offence punishable by imprisonment of 02 years or more. 3. Candidates should be disqualified for contesting any election for 06 years, if he/she submitted any false information during election period. 4. Candidate should be disqualified for contesting election for 06 years, if mobilizes voters on the basis of Caste, Creed, Religion & Place of Birth. 5. A person should be disqualified for contesting any election for minimum 06 years, if he/she convicted by a court for imprisonment up to 02 years. 6. If person is imprisonment of more than 02 years then he/she should be disqualified for a period of 03 times of his/her imprisonment i.e. Person imprisoned for 3 year, should be disqualified for 9 years & if imprisoned for 4 years then he/she should be disqualified for 12 years & so on. 7. It should be mandatory for Candidates & People Representatives to disclose their assets & last 5 years income details, assets & last 5 years income details of his/her Spouse, Children & Parents in public domain. 8. Law should be amended for filing of Election Petition in case of corrupt practices by any contesting candidate. Presently Election Petition can be filed against winners only. 9. Only one common registration of voters at the local level should be enough for all levels i.e. Panchayats to Loksabha elections. 10. Every effort should be made to hold election for Loksabha, State Assemblies & possibly Local Body simultaneously. 11. Government should make a law on Right to Reject & Right to Recall. 12. Constitution amendment should be effected to increase no of seats in both houses of Parliament in view of growing numbers of voters. 13. Minimum Qualification should be mandatory criteria for MLA & MPs. 14. Minimum health standard & maximum age limit should be mandatory criteria for directly elected members i.e. MLA / MP (Lower house). 15. Responsibility & Accountability must be clearly defined for every people representative with stringent penalty clauses for non-compliance.
