Plants have Life too. Plants tho. 1. yes! But whats your point? Plants and Animals are different. Animals are sentient, emotional, feeling, thinking beings like us! and we dont kill plants (Plants dont die as they are totipotent) but consume its edible part and even when the whole crop is harvested, seeds of same are used to rise new life and thats how the cycle of life continues. You dont get seed without consuming fruit! 2. Plants are essentially the primary source of food for all life forms on earth. Every food chain starts only with plants and There is no animal that directly converts solar energy into Bioenergy but only plants which synthesize food from CO2 and water by using sunlight and through photosynthesis. This is why they are called primary producers in food chain while animals and humans together are called consumers. Thus eating plants is inevitable for humans who release CO2 which plants make use of and provide O2 which humans make use of. If Plants are not consumed, seeds are not obtained and new plants aren’t raised- this very cycle of interdependence collapses and the very existence of human being will be under threat/question. best example- there is literally no human being on earth who dont consume plants! 3. Its possible to live with out feeding on animals- best example: vegetarians and vegans! while inflicting unnecessary pain and suffering on fellow sentient beings and killing them food is ethically indefensible and morally questionable, animal farming is abuse of resources, major source of emissions and a greater cause of pollution including water pollution. besides its torture, enslavement, suffering and murder. We dont have to indulge ourselves in that vicious circle for that momentary pleasure of taste when its absolutely possible for us to refrain from dining on something that requires stopping a beating heart and tearing a family like ours. 4. If u say Plants and animals are same, you are just sanctioning killing everything that has life in which case you have no reason to exclude humans form that sanction. Bottom line: Veganism is not perfectionism which is impossible to attain but only is driven towards. we make sure that we do as less harm as possible in our best capacity and indulge in something thats essential for our survival with in the definition of ethical way of leading life. so i am killing a microbe by breathing or killing a bug by accidentally stepping on it doesnt negate your responsibility of refraining from inflicting unnecessary pain on fellow sentient beings and paying a stranger who cuts a lamb for your meal.
