Plato said Atlantis was west of Gibraltar, & he said that after a terrible earthquake, Atlantis was submerged, to remain as seamounts impeding travel in the eastern Atlantic. He was accurate in the location of massive seamounts west of Gibraltar, around Madeira & the Azores, & his earthquake story fits well with the seismic volatility of the area, which he could not have been expected to otherwise know. He was also quite accurate in saying that there was advanced civilization 12,000 years ago, as we now know from Göbekli Tepe.
