Plato said that the price of apathy towards public affairs is to be ruled by evil men. In his statement, he did a good job of pointing out a barrier of maintaining a traditional Greek democracy in his day. However, today we live under a dangerous American plutocracy that has what appears to be limitless power. To articulate a modern version of Platos ancient premise, I would say this: The price of public apathy is paid in cash by evil men who privatize critical affairs, which were designed to be pubic.
