Playmakers - Football Debates: I can’t take this garbage Two years back I went for the level 2 coaching and this German dude Michael Nees who was conducting the course told us that a team must only play according to the players’ strengths. He was saying that the German national team will never change the philosophy because of the opposition. Now I’m reading the garbage from safa saying that even the selection of players must change according to the opposition. Why then must we have our own philosophy? Please colleagues read this safa non-sense and tell me if I’m wrong. Safa instruction says, ‘To begin with we must establish a database of player characteristics for use by national team coaches to construct balanced national teams. This database could conceivably be used to construct teams – club of national – based on an ideal profile determined by a coach or group of selectors. This profile can be derived from the nature of the opposition to be played. For instance, if an opponent’s weakness is a set of short midfielders who cannot win balls in the air – perhaps coupled with a big, but slow, backline – then our response could include a pair of supremely accurate ball distributors with the ability to place the ball behind the defenders for our strikers and also to run with the ball if necessary to add to the offensive options. The database can be queried for players who fit that profile’. To me this is shocking stupidity. Playmakers - Football Debates
