Buncombe County: School Board of Education: https://vimeo/109363999 (Vote for all 3 seats please)) NCs public education system has suffered from excessive standardized testing, loss of instruction time (esp. 3rd Grades Read to Achieve state mandated legislation), inadequate classroom resources (textbooks to inoperable copy machines), and inequitable pay for teachers. Many talented NC teachers are leaving our state or choosing other careers. WNC for Public Education (WNC4PE) is a non-partisan coalition of concerned citizens, parents, and educators who believe all NCs children deserve to attend public schools that are conducive to learning with talented and supportive teachers, quality instruction, and minimal exposure to standardizing testing/assessments. -> WNC4PE would like to ensure students and teachers receive the resources they need to succeed in excellent K-12 public schools. Goals: 1. to minimize excessive tests/assessments to protect instruction time and protect our students love of learning; 2. to ensure adequate school funding for: textbooks, supplies, operational equipment, etc.; and 3. to ensure equitable funding for teachers so NC has the ability to retain and attract talented teachers our children deserve.
