Please be aware of IRS phone scams. My sister had a voicemail today from a foreign John Smith saying she owed the IRS money and it was in litigation. Blah! First of all, the IRS will contact you via US mailed letter first and foremost. Secondly, if there were a trial regarding you and money you owe, you would know. Dont fall prey. Visit IRS.gov to learn more about phone and email scams and what to do if you are targeted. Evidently, these guys get really hostile with you over the phone, probably have the last 4-digits of your social, and even have a follow up phone call to threaten you with jail time, loss of license, etc. If you have grandparents, please notify them of these scams. They are usually the ones who fall for the threats.
