[Please bear with me here] Can someone explain to me why you choose not to believe in God? I dont believe we will ever be able to prove or disprove his existence so I figured I would try to at least convince myself to become a believer - if nothing else but to avoid eternal hellfire (not really a reason to believe; just a reason to think about what I want to believe). I use to not believe (or care for that matter) because I couldnt verify it indubitably. Im not cRaZy religious or anything but heres my main reasoning why I have decided to believe in God: Humans - who are supposedly made in His image - are unique to any other species because we are the smartest, most successful species on this planet partly due to our complex brains, and free will (I believe in free will mainly because mankind can intentionally do acts that directly violate our natural instincts such as to live, or eat), it gives me comfort to think that theres something more after I (and loved ones) die, I think it makes me a friendlier person, science has made some connections with major Bible stories such as evidence of a major flood, and similarities of geographic locations, our world is unbelievably complex yet perfectly elegant, I have had several events happen in my life that I consider miracles (I call them such because I would literally calculate the minuscule probability of these events occurring when possible; Im a mathematician), and finally because its all He asks of us. Side note: You can explain anything you find wrong, but please dont disrespect my beliefs, as I will never disrespect yours. I dont know what this journey of life is all about, but Im pretty sure its NOT about being cruel in any way.
