Please can people share this, the message is so important. It is easy to put off chipping and vaccinating your cat/kitten, it’s a hassle to sit in a vets queue, true, you’ll get round to it soon…..and then months go by. But what actually happens to them when they get lost?……………………………….. Someone called the pound’s animal catcher yesterday to pick up this poor boy from the street in Castellar. He’s one of the most dehydrated cats we have ever seen. He’s all bone and hair, nothing of him. And mouth has terrible ulcers so he couldn’t eat. He has probably been lost for a long time. He wants to live; he must do to have kept on going and is still desperate for a purr and a rub when he gets a chance. He’s a sweet ex house cat; he’s been castrated by his original owner. BUT they never chipped him. And he’s been out so long, his vaccines appear to not be up to date (if he had them) and he has picked up a painful illness which will need good and costly treatment for quite a while. He’s been hydrated by tube all today and bless him, he’s now eating special high nutrition food watered down so it’s easier for him to swallow. And still purring. ……………………………… We often hear ‘oh my cat must have found someone else to look after him, as one day he just went and never came back, so he’s likely sitting on someone else’s sofa now!’ …………………. But Percy and others are the reality. Without a chip they have no chance of being returned to you; their futures are bleak.
