Please contact your legislator and tell them to vote NO on S2551/A3815. Tomorrow, the NJ Legislature intends to give a gift to developers in the form of another Permit Extension Act. NJ has extended the life of permits and approvals 4 times since 2008 - this allows some land use permits from the late 1990s to continue until 2016. By extending the validity of permits again, the Legislature is prohibiting state and local authorities from allowing changes in zoning, flood hazard protections, water quality protections, and other environmentally-necessary regulations. Towns should be allowed to protect the quality of life in their communities based on changing conditions and objectives.
