Please do not take this comment as an endorsement of Wal-Mart; it is a thought or two presented to me by visiting friends from another Community that has a Wal-Mart. 1) Has the BOD allowed or asked Wal-Mart to make a presentation to the Community on what they are willing to do for SVLA? i.e.: Subsidized added security patrols, no trucking activities after 10pm (same as our by-laws) no overnight parking in Wal-Mart Parking lots, banning all panhandling. All these were in conversational mode between previous BOD(s) and Wal-Mart when Wal-Mart first bought property. 2) Like out BVR entrance? Wal-Mart was going to make a six lane divided road from Peach to SVL Parkway. Town Hall Meeting for Wal-Mart presentation and Community input? 3) Then asked, before lawsuit, before attacking Wal-Mart, did BOD, following the SVLA Posted Mission Statement, ever have any official Town Hall Meetings asking for members input? Informed of the cost to fight, and asked permission to spend the Thousands already spent? (And more to be spent?) Now my own questions: 1) If the method being used to prevent Wal-Mart is flooding, and Wal-Mart will solve that issue within the county/state requirements, does SVLA expect a friendly neighbor? 2) If not Wal-Mart or some other Big Box, and I am not supporting either, what is going to be there that the Community will support? (Remember the Condo Project at the corner of Pahute and SVL Parkway) 3) And most important, and I have yet to get an answer from any previous or present Board Member, what assurances does SVLA have that our CSA64 Water is not going to be tapped, as has been done by others in that area? No one is talking about this very vital issue. (Havent heard it mentioned in any BOD Mtg) If we think Wal-Mart is going to damage our Community, and construction is three years out, what about the uncompleted Yucca Loma Project? Dont think for a moment that SVLA is going to be able to DENY any public entrance of our Community. REMEMBER THE CATALINA GATE? Look up the ruling! My reason for posting this, and expecting many negative attacks? We, all of us, should know all the facts, negative and positive, before we attack a potential neighbor. Yes, many/some stores are not places some of us would shop, but, visit other city/county/state store locations, as I have done, and we may come to understand, it is the communitys environment that dictates the stores image/reputation, and the communitys support. Yes, VV has not done a very good job!!!! Robert Read Jr
