Please dont confuse media coverage with frequency of incidents. Surely you know that when a story garners a lot of public interest, the media look for other similar stories. For example, you may notice that when there is a big oil spill, suddenly there seem to be oil spills all over the place. Those small oil spills are always happening -- they just are not news until the large oil spill captures the publics attention.
