Please find attached an update on all road works within Cairns Bruce Highway Upgrade project. 1. Permanent closure – Exit from Charlotte Close, Woree to Bruce Highway and entry to Charlotte Close from Bruce Highway southbound – from Monday 1 July 2013. Access from Charlotte Close roundabout onto the Bruce Highway is permanently closed. Access to Charlotte Close from Bruce Highway southbound is permanently closed. Northbound motorists can continue to enter Charlotte Close from the highway. During construction, motorists will use the following alternate routes : · To access Mulgrave Road, use the service road to Rigg Street · To access the Bruce Highway and Ray Jones Drive, use Loretta Avenue and Anderson Road · To access Charlotte Close when travelling from Mulgrave Road and Ray Jones Drive, use Rigg Street and then service road. · To access Charlotte Close when traveling south along the Bruce Highway, turn right into Anderson Road and perform a u-turn to access Loretta Avenue. 2. Night works – Bruce Highway – Ongoing to Friday 12 July 2013 - between 8.30pm and 5.00am weather permitting. The Bruce Highway near Forest Gardens will be reduced to single lane operation in both directions at times to allow for bridge construction and sign installation. The intersection of Bruce Highway and Forest Gardens Boulevard will be under traffic control. 3. Night works – Sheehy Road, Progress Road and Kowinka Street – Friday 5 July 2013 – between 7.00pm and 6.00am, weather permitting. Sections of Progress Road, Sheehy Road and the intersection of Sheehy Road and Kowinka Street will be closed at times. These works are required for road construction. Residents may notice additional vehicle noise and increased lighting in the area. Diversions may be required, please see variable message signs for further details. 4. Changed traffic conditions – Western service road between Charlotte Close and Rigg Street – Monday 15 July to Wednesday 17 July 2013, weather permitting. The western service road between Charlotte Close and Rigg Street will be reduced to single lane operation under traffic control. These works are required for drainage installation. 5. Changed traffic conditions – George Cannon Drive, Mt Sheridan – Monday 8 July to Sunday 3 August 2013, weather permitting. George Cannon Drive will be temporarily closed for up to six weeks. Motorists can continue to enter the western end of George Cannon Drive but only to gain access to the medical centre and attached facilities. Alternate access is via Forest Gardens Boulevard. These works are required for road construction.
