Please help save the Eco village Wilderland in the Coromandel! Wilderland is a centre for sustainable living, organic farming and land stewardship catering to hundreds of visitors every year. Located on 64 hectares of regenerating native bushland beside the Whitianga estuary on the Coromandel Pennisula. Amongst the orchards and gardens is a collection of unique dwellings and workshop spaces. Wilderland was born in 1964 and is one of New Zealands first self-reliant communities. Wilderland has always managed to sustain itself financially through selling honey, produce and crafts at local markets and a modest roadside shop. However the council has recently demanded that a retrospective development fee, which Wilderland has been paying off in $50 weekly instalments, be paid by the end of this month. Wilderland has attempted to negotiate a feasible payment plan but the council no longer wants to communicate. The council have threatened a forced sale of the land if the remaining $30,000 is not paid by the end of the month. Without your help this irreplaceable learning institute may be lost forever.
