Please join Steve Cobb, Metric Giles and Rep. Rena Moran for the premier screening of “On University Ave w/ Rep. Rena Moran. This free event displays community members sharing their stories of the Old Rondo Community, their vision of lightrail and their hope for the ave; all from the perspective of African Americans and their journey in and around the central corridor. With the new lightrail making its way down University Ave, many remember the construction of I94 and the removal of black families and businesses and the impact in had on Rondo residents, a thriving black community. The legacy of I94 development left the African American community in lost, despair and stagnation. With this video we hope to move people from the lost and stagnation to a place where African Americans are a part of the growth and well-being of their community in relationship to lightrail by telling their story. The video display interviews with elders of the old Rondo Community, community organizations and black businesses. Each one bring their perspective and hopes for the black community going forward and how they continue to be a vital part of the new lightrail and the surrounding communities. Program starts at 6:00. All are welcome!!
