Please listen up Hope Defined supporters, we have a very important message to convey to you. We are asking you to share this story, share it far and wide so we can resolve this issue. We have struggled the entire existence of this rescue to gather a foster base that can meet the demand of saving lives at the rate we CAN and are WILLING to do. To put it simply and as bluntly as possible, dogs we have CONFIRMED rescues for are being killed, put to sleep, euthanized, however you want to say it, and why? Because we DO NOT HAVE FOSTER HOMES! Nothing else is to blame. We can pull it, we can vet it, we can get it to Colorado, we just need YOUR home for it to stay in temporarily. And sadly, it is only going to get worse for the animals that come into the City of Clovis Animal Shelter. We already pay the full adoption fee ($46 and $36 for 3mons and below) for EACH animal we pull, putting a massive financial strain on our charity. On top of that, We were just notified that ANY animal at the Clovis Shelter HAS TO BE PULLED ON THE DAY IT IS AVAILABLE. They will no longer give dogs, even with confirmed rescues, any extra time. If they have to, they will put it to sleep and it is not given any extra time under any circumstances, regardless if it has a Colorado rescue or not. **Please, do not be angry with the animal shelter staff, as this is coming from ABOVE them. DO NOT call the shelter and harass them. Their hands are tied. Contact the Clovis City Government and Commissioners with your concerns** This is the cruel reality we are dealing with here in Eastern New Mexico. Too many animals, not enough time and NOT ENOUGH FOSTER HOMES! This is the time, this is YOUR chance to make a difference. THE COMMUNITY needs to step up for these animals. We need YOU to become a foster home and save lives. Apply to be a foster parent today. If you ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT foster, share this post, talk to your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. Get the word out about the need in this area. Hope Defined will NEVER stop the struggle to end unnecessary euthanasia, but we need YOUR support to do it. Thank you.
