Please note I am not a journalist just my opinion... Charity night Sheffield Lane Top Tonight clubland turned out in force to support Amy the young girl who injured herself abroad and needed funds to get her home and on the mend again The night was organised by Tanya Walker and Dukeries Entertainments and once again they pulled all the stops out with a full house in attendance. The show opened with a long, long intro and then on walked Dan Knights in his up market outfit which included dickie bow for good measure. He was then accompianed on stage by Rob Linacre . Both are undoubtedly two of the best Entertainers out there. Vocally flawless except Bobby forgetting his words but hey this happens to us all,i once forgot the words to Mouldy old dough. Lighting could have been more illuminated, they were both a bit in the dark and for two pretty boys we wanted to see their cheeky faces. A new venture for the lads and with the quality they possess ive no doubt if they hit the right market will be a big hit. Our comperes were next on stage Little Sam and Little Pocket Rocket. First time working together . Both seemed nervous but soon shook the nerves off with a great duet. I quite like the pairing up of comperes it works really well. The masters of the art Marc B oulton and Louise but i feel if these two little uns get together working hard on each others personality theres plenty more compering jobs in the pipeline. Next up was Motown Moma who initially had a few sound problems no fault of her own but she soldiered on and gave a great performance of Motown and Soul classics. Everyone around me was tapping feet and clapping along except for crazy Gaz who decided to do full Soul classic dancing, boy can he move. Well done to Motown Moma on her recent fitness regime and the show was classic Soul and Motown It was intro time again and another long long one and then on marched Jimmy Carrol. Well what can you say about Jimmy only one word uncomparable. The bloke never ever loses his timing, his quality and without doubt the funniest comedian on the circuit. Jimmy sometimes goes close to the bone but never does it offend, and you cant but help yourself belly laughing. Jimmy works hard on updating his material and i particulary loved the Oscar Pistoria gags...great spot by the old timer. Ruth Stanford was on stage next and wow what a voice. Everytime i see Ruth she seems to get better and better. Im not a big fan of the slower ballady stuff but boy can she belt them out. Ruth looks class, oozes class and i loved her final song a winner all the way. It was long, long intro time again and then the explosion which was Ricky K exploded on to the stage. Ricky is like a firework he just goes BANG. Excellent delivery, crazy man and enthusiasm that is infectious. Ricky K is one of those entertainers that you feel is the one that got away, the one that should be presenting on TV. He may have lost out on the fixed manafactured tv programme Britains got Talent but hell never be out of work on the Cabaret circuit. I was time for me to leave the ball as my Stella had reached perfect chilling time. Apologies for not seeing Two to Go and Dan Knights Storm. No doubt both will have had great nights. So once again hats off to Dukeries Entertainments for a great night. Thanks to all the Artistes for giving their time up for free to help a young lady. So Clublands dying, its on its death bed but for one night only in a club in Sheffield the ressucitated Clubland and brought it back to life.
