Please note and SHARE If you know anyone under age 65 who has questions about health care, please look at the end of this message about my upcoming CALL IN Town Halls on December 3 in English and December 5 in Spanish. Happy Hanukkah May the candle you light spread hope and a bright future from your family and friends to all of us. When I think of a bright future, I think of affordable education and health care, living wage employment and economic security for all. Happy Thanksgiving Many blessings have been bestowed on me. Even though I cant sing to save my life, I am grateful for the other gifts that God has given me. Nearly one-hundred years ago, three of my grandparents came to America so Emma Lazarus words on the Statute of Liberty get to be my familys story-Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free... I lift my lamp beside the golden door. While my family is spread around in New Jersey and Oregon, I feel connected with their lives in so many ways. My daughter, Michele, who is a nurse/midwife will be in Tucson in a professional role the weekend after next and we will be having dinner on Saturday, December 7. YEAH!! My husband, Andy, has been a trooper, in first coming to Arizona nearly a decade ago, and putting up with me as I do my best to serve the people of southern Arizona. I am grateful that he puts up with, and supports, me every day. I am grateful to have a lot of energy and good health along with the sense to know when to kick back. None of the work that I do in my role as a Legislative District 2 Representative would have been possible without the support of my originals-the people in Tucson and Green Valley who asked me to run for the old Legislative District 30 even though it was a steep uphill race. I treasure my new supporters in Pima and Santa Cruz Counties. I am very grateful for the bipartisan support I received from the AZ Legislature in getting my HCM (House Concurrent Memorial) 2007 passed. It protests to US House Speaker John Boehner, Senate President Harry Reid and the entire Arizona Congressional delegation the proposed closing of Tucsons Cherrybell Mail Processing Center which is located in Legislative District 2. Besides a technical correction bill, sadly, it is the only effort by a Democratic House member to pass. While the majority staff has offices with windows, Democratic House staff and interns work in the basement. In spite of that, they work diligently to make us look good every day with information, guidance and support. As I like to say loud and often, Dem House Staff Rocks. I am very grateful to them for their awesome service. My new assistant, Cindy, has just jumped in with enthusiasm for the new projects I have given her. I am very grateful to these organizations and entities for inviting me to speak during 2013 or early 2014. It has help me with my campaign and gives more people an understanding of my work at the Legislature: Santa Cruz Democratic Party Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce Arizona Borderlands Democrats Democratic Women in Action 3/21/2014 Green Valley AAUW American Association of University Women Democratic Club of Quail Creek Continental School Board Retreat Drinking Liberally-Tucson Pima County School Board/Superintendent Collaboration League of Women Voters-Green Valley Unit 12/13/13 Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District Parents Advisory and Student Group in Rio Rico 12/13/13 Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Amado 12/15/13 Grateful to all involved with the six Senior Scam Prevention Events I sponsored. Thanks to those of you who signed my nominating petition, supported me and Clean Elections with your $5 donations and seed money which is being used for my startup of my re-election campaign for 2014. A special thank you to those who donated to my Constituent Service Account. Because of your support, of up to a maximum of $150, we will be able to call more than 15,000 voters who may be in need of information about the health care exchange/marketplace under the Affordable Health Care Act. They will be contacted on Sunday afternoon with info about my Call in Town Halls for next week. Truthfully, I could spend the entire day listing more people and organizations who have helped me on my journey. A big shout out to Emerge Arizona who trained me to be a candidate in 2007 and continues to support me and to Arizona List for their 2014 endorsement. Dalessandro hosting Affordable Care Act Tele-Town Halls STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX - Rep. Andrea Dalessandro, D-Sahuarita (District 2), is organizing a series of Tele-Town Halls on the Affordable Care Act. She will hold the forums on two days, in both English and Spanish. The Tele-Town Halls in English will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 11:30 a.m. and at 7 p.m. The Spanish Tele-Town Halls will follow on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. and at 7 p.m. Participants can call 559-726-1200 and use the code 322773. Please note this call is not toll free. Long-distance charges may apply. Herb Schultz, the regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will join Dalessandro for both calls on Dec. 3. Dr. Betsy Thompson and Roberto Diaz with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will be available for both calls on Dec. 5. All Arizonans deserve access to quality, affordable health care coverage. Now, with the Health Insurance Marketplace, consumers will have a place to find coverage options. There is a lot to know about the enrollment process and the differences in plans. I want to make sure that people have access to the correct information and to experts. The timing is so important right now because some people will have to find a plan by Dec. 23 to avoid a lapse in coverage. These events are open to the public and the press. To RSVP, email [email protected] or call 1-800-352-8404, ext. 65342. Please call if you have any questions. Please know that I am very grateful for your confidence in me. Thank you, Andrea Dalessandro Legislative District 2 Representative
