Please, please say a prayer (or if you dont pray, keep good thoughts) for all of those affected by all the fires now burning in California (my home state) and especially by the King Fire in Pollock Pines and surrounding areas. I have good friends in the area and one family I consider part of my non-blood relatives, The Harringtons who live in Pollock Pines with their herd of H. Homestead Nubians. Bill & Dodie along with all of the animals (including a 35+ yr. old horse who has not taken the evacuation well at all) have evacuated to Lynns place in Placerville. I have known the Harringtons since 1977, we became instant family from day one. They have lived in the same beautiful home for all 35 yrs. Ive known them and probably 11 or so years before that...their heart and soul are in that homestead. It kills me that Im not there to help them in whatever way I could/can (except for Prayers), at least I know they are in a safe place! Take it from one who as been evacuated the worry is terrible, even knowing there is nothing that you can do, you still bite your nails down (even if youre not a nail biter) with the Not Knowing what if anything is left. According to the reports as of this afternoon at: yubanet/nevada/King.php No structures have been lost to the over 18,000 acre fire and I certainly Pray it stays that way. Also according to the same report there are over 2500 personnel fighting that fire. If youve never been to the Harrington Homestead, it would be very hard to visualize how beautiful the area is and how marvelous it usually smells with all of the towering Pines, Dogwood etc. AGAIN, ALL PRAYERS, GOOD THOUGHTS, CROSSED FINGERS OR ANY OTHER WAY TO CONVEY YOU ARE ASKING FOR HELP AND THE BEST OUTCOME FOR ALL OF THOSE AFFECTED BY THESE FIRES ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
