By Eskayq Burenitu Questions fired at PM During his recent Campaign in NZ: 1.Why did you say back in 2007 that you will be paid salary of the Army Commander ($98,000) and when did you decide to increase your salary to $278,000 as declared recently? 2.Why did you say back in 2006 December that no Army officer/member will benefit from the coup when in fact several RFMF personnel are serving in your cabinet, or in diplomatic missions, or as permanent secretaries and in other senior civil service roles as well as in government controlled boards? 3.Why did you say back in 2007 that no person can be appointed to serve on more than one board controlled by the government but that has not been the practice in the past 7 years? 4.Why did you say that there will be no nepotism or cronyism in government appointments when we can see several of your family members holding high profile Jobs in government or in its agencies? 5.Why did you say your government would be transparent and accountable when your have actually banned public or political party access to the Auditor General’s reports from 2007 – 2013 and have recently dissolved the Public Accounts Committee? 6.Why did your say that you will ensure civil service and security force membership reflect the multiracial composition of Fiji when in fact the RFMF under your leadership from 1999 till 2014 March always had 99% Fijians in it? 7.Why did you say in 2007 and subsequently stated in the Peoples Charter (which you claim was approved by 75% of the people) that you will uphold the 1997 Constitution when in fact you did the opposite once your regime was found by the Appeals Court to be unlawful? 8.Why did you secure international funding for the Yash Ghai Commission stating that you will respect the Ghai Commission Draft and refer the same to a representative Constituent Assembly (CA) only to trash the Ghai Draft and scrapped the CA process? 9.Why did you say that no member of the Interim cabinet will contest the 2009 Elections and now we hear most of them in his FijiFirst line up for the elections? 10.Why did you complain about the 2006 debt level which was $2.6 Billion and state that you would reduce National Debt when in fact the debt has now swelled to $4 -$5 billion? 11.Why did you mislead the Pacific Island Forum (PIF), CMAG and EU and personally gave commitment to hold Election in March 2009 if you had no intention to keep it? 12.Can you confirm or deny if your declared salary of ($278,000) was the same paid to you from 2007 – 2014? 13.Are you prepared to disclose the annual salary and allowances paid to you and the AG annually from 2007 – 2014 for each year separately with tax and FNPF deductions? 14.Can you confirm or deny if Nur Bano Ali who is closely related to the AG and Secretary General of Fiji First was involved in any way or form in the administration if Ministerial Salaries from 2007 – 2014 June? 15.Why did your government plan to spend $2.8 Billion in 2014 when in fact the Tax Revenue for 2013 was only $1.8 Billion? 16.Do you think a responsible government with income of $1.8 Billion should be spending $2.8 Billion? 17.You state in your 2014 Budget that $475 Million would be raised from sale of state assets. What is the status of this? 18.Can you disclose how many jobs were created from the Tax Free Zones you created in Vanua levu and other parts of the country and how does that relate to our unemployment rate is 9% at present and the continued rural urban drift? — feeling curious.
