Please pray for the Hamby Children and families. Mary Farr Stone Hamby was the daughter of Mama Birds brother, Issac Stone and Lena Chancellor Stone. Mary Farr Stone Hamby, 87, died Monday, November 16, 2014. Mrs. Hamby was born in Rock Run in Cherokee County, Alabama. She earned a BA and Bachelor of Music from Birmingham Southern College in 1948. In that year she married the Rev. Warren C. Hamby with whom she partnered in ministry and enjoyed a marriage of 61 years before he passed away in 2009. Mrs. Hamby is survived by two sons, Warren, Jr. (Burma) of Alabaster, and Michael of Childersburg; two daughters, Barbara Adkins (Frank) of Harpersville, and Jan Piper (Ed) of Bartow, Florida; three grandsons, Chancellor Stone (Jessica) of Lineville, Drew Piper of Winter Haven, Florida, and Lee Hamby of Alabaster; and one great-grandson, Eli Stone of Lineville. A family graveside committal was held at Old Childersburg Cemetery on Tuesday. A memorial service for Mrs. Hamby will be held at Sylacauga First United Methodist Church Sunday, November 23, 3:00 p.m. and family will be present to welcome friends at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Hambys wishes is for memorial donations to Sylacauga First United Methodist Church, or the Butler Harris Rainwater Museum in Childersburg.
