Please read: I started this group as a place to celebrate/share on Facebook non-commercial/non-mainstream styles of house music. I titled it underground because that is the generally accepted term describing anything that hasnt yet been completely co-opted, commodified, marketed and reformatted by/for the mainstream ...watered-down... usually for the sole purpose of maximum financial gain. urbandictionary/define.php?term=underground The act of defining oneself contains an element of pretension... that is unavoidable. The guidelines, as ineloquent as they may seem to some, are in part meant to filter out those that dont understand that there is a difference between mainstream art and underground art, by definition. As the admin I employ humor and critique (both are known to sometimes be a form of insult), among other methods, in an ongoing effort to keep this open group as true as possible to its title while hopefully performing the act of educating those that dont understand what the term underground means generally, and specifically as applied to house music. I encourage discussion. I do not make any personal attacks though. It is true that we draw a line in the sand as to what is allowed in this group. I belong to many other FB groups that are either more specific (jackin house, tech house, fans of _____, vinyl DJs only, etc.) or are more general (house music, soulful house music, electronic house music, etc.). As specific as UNDERGROUND HOUSE MUSIC attempts to be I personally think it is still somewhat watered-down with its content and hope to tighten that up this year so that the majority of people that joined this group because it is titled Underground House Music are getting exactly what they paid for: A fast-growing network of like-minded people that wants to share, celebrate, educate and protect the underground sounds & culture of house music. I hope you can participate in this group for the consistent specificity of its content. THANK YOU for joining.
