Please read! Jim Wright I have been informed that President Obama as the Commander In Chief can be court marshaled under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for disrespecting the salute. LOOK IT UP! Uh, yeah. No. I dont have to look it up. See, Ive actually read the Constitution and I took a government class or two, or three. Maybe four. And oh by the way, I actually served in the military for 24 years. Also, as an American, one of those by the people for the people of the people people, I sort of figure its my duty to actually know something about how my government actually works. The president is not subject to the UCMJ. He cannot be court martialed. The president is a civilian, as are all members of the United States Government when serving in their official duties. Its true that several members of congress are reserve military members, but they are not subject to military law when not on military duty in the execution of their elected positions. But let us just say they were. Speaking as a retired military officer, we generally dont go around court martialing people for executing a shitty salute, coffee or no coffee. Theres no punitive Article in the UCMJ called disrespecting the salute. And thats a good thing because if there was then a whole shitload of military folks would be in Leavenworth. What are you in for, Chief? Saluted with a cigarette in my hand, damnit. A cigarette? Hardcore, dude, hardcore. Really, folks, dont try to school me on military law. Really, just dont.
