***Please read it its entirety*** TOTALS OF THE TOY DRIVE INCLUDED! What a ride this 1st annual Make a Child Smile Project has been! I had wanted to begin something like this for so many years and had been so busy. Literally, only a couple of days before Thanksgiving I made a very ambitious choice to try and get this up off the ground and make it successful for THIS Christmas. This has been one of the best experiences of my life! It has been crazy at times and there were many days that I wasn’t quite sure that this would actually be possible with such short notice, but the blessings of others kept coming in! I was able to promote this project on WAVE 3 News and several times on WQXE Quicksie 98.3 radio station (as well as them adding it to their Facebook pages) and with the help of so many others, word began to spread. Today when we showed up to deliver, to my surprise, a reporter from Wave 3 news was there, where he filmed the delivery process and did an interview, tune in tonight after football, around 11:30 to see the interview that was done in front of all the donations! Simply amazing! Also, the nurse that helped us said that this is the biggest donation that she has ever personally seen, which makes me even that much more happy to know that these special children will feel the love and support, this has truly turned into a Christmas miracle! A special thank you to everyone who shared this page to include: Radcliff/Fort Knox Convention & Tourism Commission, Etown Swim & Fitness Center. (And thank you for not getting fed up with my many, many posts) A big thanks to Team Sam Kickin Cancers Butt, Team Zayden, Addies Army and to any other big group that I am unaware of for sharing as well. These children are why I am doing this. Many of you that donated either with physical gifts or monetary donations to purchase gifts didn’t know me personally, yet you went out on a limb and put your trust in me and I am so very grateful, as I could not have pulled this off without the help of our community! This is the exact vision I have for this project, for us, as a community to show these amazing families and children that they are not alone in their fight, that WE are here to support them! This by far exceeded my expectations for the 1st year doing this, not only did we collect Christmas gifts and stockings for all of them, but we also collected a TON (14 boxes total, plus used gaming systems, videos games, and accessories for them and a few new items on the side) of used toys to restock the playroom! I have big plans for the Make a Child Smile Project that will go beyond an annual Christmas toy drive and I will be announcing them as they come to light, so stay tuned for that and continue to share this page! I want to thank each and every one of you for your generous donations and helping to “make a child smile” this all would not have been possible without each of you that helped! I cannot wait to see how the Make a Child Smile Project will grow throughout the upcoming years! Now, without further ado, our grand total for the 1st annual toy drive for the children at Kosair Childrens Hospital is as follows: 23 full boxes of big gifts totaling over 360 items!!! In addition to the 23 boxes: 30 full stockings stuffed, 1 full box of crayons, maker’s, colored pencils, window markers, coloring books, and activity books, 1 full box of smaller gifts, 2 medium sized boxes of match box cars, a full box of candy for the stockings, a giant bag of beanie babies and a Christmas card and a Make a Child Smile Project ornament for each family! To say that this overall total is amazing given the timeframe would be an understatement, my heart is so happy! If any of you have a child in the hopital when they deliver the gifts to you personally, if you would like feel free to post a picture to our wall, we would love to see some of those smiles! From my family to all of yours Merry Christmas! God Bless you all!
