Please read.....thanks to all the Eagles who helped this morning (tagging isnt working for me now) and to please share with folks at the lake if you find them and let them know how grateful Duke & I are to all of you!!!!! Duke had a rough time of our morning run....he is used to morning sun and temperature and doing 3 miles....but we had to go longer today because his mommy missed the cross-over bridge....he collapsed on the trail....heat exhaustion set in quick....if it werent for the help of the Team RWB Sunday group, town lake runners & walkers, and a nice gentleman from the Parks and rec division, we probably would still be laying on the trail. Runners ad walkers helped me cool Duke with their water, providing a bowl and I found a gallon jug to make mud and pack him with it...then some nice ladies went and got my truck for us to load him up....then the Parks & Rec guy just happened to come by w/ his golf cart....we loaded Duke and me in the back of the golf cart and took him to the water, made him lay in it with me by the canoe loading area, then we loaded him in the truck...he puked in the truck on the way home, then went potty at home and sat in kiddy pool with cool water...now he is laying soaking wet under the fan napping in the living room....I talked to the vet and Duke should be alright...will be on broth & rice for a few days but his days of working out with me and golfing with me are over until the fall......will still get his exercise but not until the sun goes down.....this just proves that anyone can get heat exhaustion at any time no matter how often you are out in the sun...AND....that our community of folks RWB or otherwise are here to help each other in our time of need. Duke & I had a time of need this morning and the community was there for us! Thanks to everyone!!!!!!! xoxoxoxo
