Please read the entire piece. the point is not to demonize two parent homes, because it is true that this type of household that is healthy and stable provides children with the best chance of economic and emotional well-being. HOWEVER, when domestic abuse is happening in a two parent household, a victim should never be encouraged to stay for hope of healthy and stable home. Abuse is the antithesis of these things. Championing marriage and two parent households to the degree that society has does not necessarily encourage domestic abuse, but rather puts victims in a position where they have to choose between their safety and relative stability. If we remove the need for this choice, hopefully we can move towards eradicating domestic abuse and keep all families safer - traditional and non traditional. This title is political, unfortunately, but the topic at hand is crucial for discussion.
