Please read the state reports about Helmetta Regional Animal Shelter (links included in this post). Consecutive violations, year after year, ranging from disease control protocol to method of euthanasia and lack of record keeping, just to name a few. Statements from people begging to find out what happened to animals who went into the shelter and were never seen again. The shelter is now trying to ban people from taking photographs on public property. Rescues trying to save animals from the shelter are ignored or told no, thank you by the shelter director. Dogs are being imported into our state without health certificates and are being released to the public not spayed or neutered, without vaccines. Records are lost. Simple inquiries about animals are deleted from HRASs Facebook page. Legitimate questions, such as how are the dogs evaluated at the shelter, are answered with responses such as: The 3 stooges of dog behavior. Why dont stop down and check out the shelter and you can ask all the questions you want. We got our degrees from captain crunch(sic). The shelter claims to be low-kill and progressive, a place where they do not euthanize healthy adoptable animals. If thats the case, where are the animals from twenty-one townships in this small facility? Why are the majority of adoptions out of state puppies and dogs? Dont let the bleach fool you. Shelter employees have been busy scrubbing parts of the shelter down and finally giving out some cat beds and water bowls ever since this page went up. But cleaning a few times while the world is watching isnt enough. You dont have to believe just one thing on this page. Put it all together. Is everyone lying? The state inspectors, the former volunteers, previous employees, adopters, the numbers that dont add up. Is it all a lie, Mayor Martin? Why are tax-payers, again, footing the salary for husband and wife Michal and Richard Cieliesz? Reform Helmetta Regional Animal Shelter NOW. Keep the pressure on! Let your voices be heard!
