Please read to the end... On the weekend, we were moving to a new place... I thought we could just get a couple subs to munch on, as cooking etc., was a little out of the question. As I passed the sub shop, a young man, probably homeless had his base-ball hat upside down asking for spare change, without a word. I motioned with my index finger that I would be back in 2 minutes. I already had the notion to give him a bit of change. Then I thought, geez, a sub costs about 5 dollars. I had the girl make me a third submarine sandwich. As I passed the young man, I gave him about 3 dollars worth of change, and then I gave him the sub. He looked up at me with disbelief that a stranger just gave him a couple of dollars and a sandwich. Then I guess it clicked in, as to what I gave him. His face changed from dis-belief to a huge thank-you. ***************** The moral of the story is not to prove that I am a kind or generous person...The moral is this. It was not just how I made HIS day...It is what happened to ME. The look on his face and the gratitude I felt, lit up a rush of happiness that totally engulfed my Being. I have troubles putting the sensation into words. I was wonderful!!! I made my day and then some. If you could buy "something" that costs around 8 dollars that would make YOU feel like that and someone else too, would you buy it? I bet you would! So instead of buying "something" in the "Something Store", why not just an act of compassion, kindness, without any judgement? Same price. Magical feeling! :)
