Please report power outages Residents should please report power outages not related to load shedding. Please report power failures by SMS. SMS the word “power” followed by your account number to 082 612 0333 or 44676. Power failures can also be reported on 012 358 9999 (choose the electricity option) or 080 1111 556. A new online tool also assists customers to report power failures. Customers can log faults online by using any web-enabled device, including cell phones. To report a power failure using this service, the customer must enter his or her account number or a prepaid serial number. A reference number of the new call will eventually be shown on the screen. Customers can also view a list of known outages, report power failures and check progress on the website. Go to tshwane.gov.za and click on the relevant button. Tshwane residents are urged to switch off pool pumps, turn air-conditioning to 23⁰C and switch off geysers and unnecessary lights to limit power consumption. Customers are cautioned to treat all electrical connections as live during load shedding. View the load shedding schedule on: tshwane.gov.za/Services/Electricity/Pages/LoadShedding.aspx. The schedule gives residents an idea of what to expect but load shedding is subject to the load demand to be shed and customers can find themselves in the lucky position not to be load shed even if it is their turn on the schedule. The message alert on top part of the load schedule will give latest information and is updated regularly during load shedding mode.
