*Please share this* Hello, My name is Melvin Wells and I live in Riverside California. I graduated from Patriot high school earlier this year. Anyhow, an incident today happened and I am utterly appalled. My little brother Maurcus Wells is now a freshman at Patriot and today was his first day of school. He is also in the special ed program within the school. Once he got home he told me that HIS TEACHER made my little brother and the rest of the special ed class pick up trash after lunch left behind by the rest of the school. My family and I contacted this teacher and she admitted to it. She admitted that MY BROTHER and the rest of the special ed students put on aprons, gloves, and DUG IN ALL THE TRASH CANS through the school campus to take out bottles and cans to sort them out and recycle them because of Low funding. Last time I checked, the special ed program was very well funded. 1. We did not give them our consent NOR did we even know. 2.Trash cans are filthy! That is hazardous and UN-SAFE. 3.That is humiliating! and complete child-labor if you ask me. How do you do that with no permission? How is this ok? Is it because these poor kids wouldnt say no? Schools have JANITORS who get payed to do that. It was HOT and they dug through the trash left behind from everyone else!? As an older brother I am furious and want answers. As well as this new special ed teacher fired.
